MOBILE, Alabama – The Bobcats (28-7) defeated the Jaguars (17-13-1) in a game that was a pitching duel.

Jessica Mullins and Jaguars pitcher Olivia Lackie were throwing some great pitches for their teams all game. Both teams were scoreless through four innings that saw Mullins strikeout three batters and Lackie strikeout seven batters.

The Bobcats would break the tie in the top of the fifth inning. After a JJ Smith pop up and a Megan Kelnar fly out, Kamden Hutton and Hannah Earls were walked. Ciara Trahan hit a single to right field that drove in Hutton and moved Earls to third base. Piper Randolph would be walked next, and Sara Vanderford would strikeout to end the inning.

This would prove to be the final score as the rest of the game was filled with great pitching and great defensive plays from both teams. Earls had two amazing plays from short stop where she made throws that just beat the runners to get outs for the Bobcats.

Olivia Lackie finished with nine strikeouts, one earned run, and allowed six hits in seven innings pitched for the Jaguars. She surpassed 700 strikeouts in her career and is only the second Jaguars player to achieve this.

These two teams will play again tomorrow night at 6pm (CT) and conclude the series on Saturday at 1pm (CT). Both games will be streaming on ESPN+ (Subscription required).
