This week the Texas State Bobcats softball team earned rankings in the D1 Softball and the Softball America’s polls and received some votes in the USA/Coaches poll. The Bobcats RPI ranking is now 12 as well.
The Bobcats swept Penn State last weekend winning games by the scores of 5-2, 2-1 (8 innings), and 6-0 and improved to 20-6 on the year. Jessica Mullins improved to 11-2 and recorded 10 strikeouts with one earned run in 14 innings pitched. In addition, her ERA for 2024 now sits at an impressive 0.62.
The Bobcats bats remained hot as well as Anna Jones and Hannah Earls each had four hits and three RBI’s in the series against the Nittany Lions. Also chipping in during the series sweep was Karmyn Bass who had two hits and three RBI’s, JJ Smith with two hits and one RBI, Sara Vanderford with three hits, Piper Randolph and Katarina Zarate each had two hits while Megan Kelnar and Emilee Baker each had one hit. Ciara Trahan also had one RBI during the series that was a total team effort.
The Bobcats are preparing for a three-game series with James Madison University (16-7) this weekend that kicks off on Friday at 2pm.
