SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Bobcats pulled off a three-game sweep against the Nittany Lions, who were ranked 16 in the RPI rankings coming into this series, after taking both games today.
The Bobcats got on the scoreboard first after picking up 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Sara Vanderford and Anna Jones each hit a single to give the Bobcats their first baserunners of the game and a Karmyn Bass double would bring them both in. The Bobcats were ahead 2-0 after the first inning.
Much like their first game of the day, both teams remained scoreless in innings two through five as the Bobcats left two runners stranded in this timeframe.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Bobcats scored two additional runs. They had runners on first and third bases after Vanderford hit a double and Jones hit a single. Karmyn Bass hit her second single of the game, which brought in Vanderford and Jones, extending their lead to four. After Randolph was walked, JJ Smith lined out. Katarina Zarate was then walked, loading the bases. Haliee Vance struck out swinging, but Hannah Earls hit a single to the pitcher that allowed Sydney Harvey and Randolph to score while Zarate advanced to the third base. With a 6-0 lead, the Bobcats emerged victorious, sweeping the Nittany Lions in the process.

Next up: The Bobcats will hit the road as they head to Harrisonburg, Virginia for a three-game series against James Madison University March 15th through the 17th.
Game Notes
•Jessica Mullins improved 11-2 on the season and is now tied for third place all time with Chandler Hall for career wins with 80. She pitched a full game and gave up two hits, no earned runs, and struck out three batters.
•Karmyn Bass had two doubles that were good for three RBIs. Earls, Vanderford, and Jones each had two hits while Earls earned two RBIs off of those hits and Randolph had the only other hit of the game.
•The Bobcats improved to 16-1 when scoring first in their games this season and have now won six games in a row.
•Coming into this series the Bobcats were ranked 19 and the Nittany Lions were ranked 16 in the initial RPI rankings.
